The General Congregation (GC) is the highest body of the Society of Jesus, which meets to decide the business of its order time to time. The body of GC consists of provincials and the delegates elected by the each province depending on its ratio/quota system. Since the founding of the Society of Jesus in 1540, the GC has met 35 times either to elect a new Superior General of the Society of Jesus or to discuss various issues which have arisen time to time. During the last GC in 2008, the Society of Jesus elected its 35th Superior General Fr. Adolfo Nicolás, S.J.
